Multiple Sclerosis Neuro Rehab Program
Our Multiple Sclerosis Neuro Rehab program provides coordinated occupational, physical, and speech therapy to address the motor, cognitive, communicative, and social-emotional impact of MS.
We treat the wide range of symptoms associated with MS — fatigue, weakness, spasticity, gait and balance impairment, cognitive changes, vision challenges, speech and swallowing difficulties, and reduced independence in daily routines.
Our interdisciplinary team coordinates care across disciplines. PT addresses strength, gait, balance, and spasticity management in the clinic. OT works via telehealth on fatigue management, daily living adaptations, and cognitive strategies. ST addresses dysarthria, cognitive-communication, and swallowing when indicated. We adapt plans to relapse-remitting cycles and progressive changes.
Your Results:
✓ Improve strength, balance, and walking to preserve functional mobility
✓ Manage fatigue with energy conservation and pacing strategies
✓ Maintain cognitive function with evidence-based strategies and practice
✓ Adapt daily routines and environments to sustain independence
Who Is This Program For?
Adults diagnosed with any form of multiple sclerosis — relapsing-remitting, secondary progressive, or primary progressive. We serve patients at all stages, from new diagnosis to advanced disease.
Delivery Model: Hybrid — PT in clinic, OT and ST via telehealth

Multiple Sclerosis Neuro Rehab: Your Interdisciplinary Treatment Guide
Multiple sclerosis affects motor, cognitive, communicative, and social-emotional skills, often unpredictably. Our program integrates Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech-Language Pathology (ST) to help you preserve function, manage symptoms, and adapt as MS evolves.
Why We Work as an Interdisciplinary Team
Research strongly supports rehabilitation for MS, it improves strength, walking, balance, fatigue, cognition, and quality of life at every stage of the disease.
Physical Therapy (PT): We focus on strength, gait, balance, and spasticity management through targeted exercises and manual techniques.
Occupational Therapy (OT): We focus on fatigue management, daily activity adaptations, cognitive strategies, and home/workplace modifications.
Speech-Language Pathology (ST): We address dysarthria, voice changes, cognitive-communication, and swallowing when clinically indicated.
Our Shared Goal: Helping you live your fullest life with MS, across relapses, remissions, and progression.
1. Exercise & Mobility Strategies
Regular, appropriately-dosed exercise is one of the most important interventions for MS.
Aerobic Conditioning: Low to moderate-intensity aerobic activity 3-5 times per week as tolerated.
Strength Training: Targeted strengthening for core, postural, and functional muscle groups.
Balance & Gait: Dynamic balance and gait training to reduce fall risk and maintain walking independence.
Spasticity Management: Stretching, positioning, and movement strategies that reduce tone.
2. Fatigue Management
MS-related fatigue is often the most disabling symptom. OT-led strategies help you manage energy sustainably.
The 4 P's: Prioritize, Plan, Pace, and Position your activities to conserve energy.
Cooling Strategies: Heat sensitivity is common, we teach cooling techniques for exercise and daily life.
Activity-Rest Cycles: Build planned rest into your day before fatigue derails your function.
Sleep Hygiene: Strategies to improve sleep quality, which directly affects MS fatigue.
3. Cognitive Strategies
Cognitive changes are common in MS, we address them proactively.
Compensatory Strategies: External aids (calendars, lists, reminders) and internal strategies (chunking, spaced practice) to support memory and attention.
Cognitive Exercises: Task-based practice that targets executive function, processing speed, and working memory.
Environmental Structure: Reduce cognitive load with organized spaces, routines, and visual supports.
When to Contact Your Treatment Team
Please reach out if you experience:
A new or worsening MS relapse, numbness, weakness, vision changes, or coordination loss.
Significant changes in walking, balance, or falls.
New voice, speech, or swallowing changes.
Cognitive changes that affect your ability to work, drive, or manage daily tasks.
Remember: MS is a marathon, not a sprint. Consistent rehabilitation, adapted to your current status, preserves function across the long course of the disease.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can therapy actually help with MS?
Yes. Evidence strongly supports exercise-based and skilled rehabilitation for MS — it improves strength, walking, balance, fatigue, and quality of life. Therapy does not modify the disease but meaningfully improves function and independence.
How does therapy adapt during a relapse?
During an MS exacerbation, your therapist adjusts intensity and goals. We often focus on safety, energy conservation, and maintaining function until the relapse resolves, then gradually rebuild.
Is MS rehab available via telehealth?
OT and speech therapy sessions are delivered via telehealth, which is especially helpful on high-fatigue days. PT evaluations and interventions are in-clinic.
Do you treat cognitive changes in MS?
Yes. Our SLPs and OTs address MS-related cognitive challenges including processing speed, memory, attention, and executive function — both in compensatory strategies and functional application.
